I’m just returning from a rafting trip down the Skagit River through the North Cascades National Park. This is a trip I do almost every year because of the beautiful surroundings.
The Skagit River is the main source of power for the Seattle area. Normally the heat of Summer creates a demand for more electrical power which results in more water being released from the Damn. This creates a very active river for whitewater rafting but there still many areas of flat water to lay back and enjoy the scenery.
In this series I’m really exploring the use of color in my photography. There is so much color surrounding you on a trip like this it’s easy to get lost in it. The water takes on a bright green hue that almost glows. Add a couple of brightly colored boats and a pale blue sky and you have a spectacular composition.
